Mounting Location Comes First

Under a bench seat, inside a galley cabinet, or under the bed platform near your fresh water tank are the most common spots. You want it close enough to your plumbing runs to avoid long, heat-losing hot water lines, but accessible enough that you can service it later without tearing your cabinetry apart.

Coolant Tie-In Systems Are a Bigger Job

Systems that tie into your van's heater core lines are a bigger job than an electric boiler, and a wrong connection can affect your cabin heat. This is usually a case where following a van-specific installation kit saves a lot of trial and error.

Electric Boilers Are the Simpler Install

Mounting, a water inlet/outlet, and a power connection (12V, 110V, or both). No cutting into engine systems required, which is part of why they're a popular first-build choice.

Diesel/Hydronic Combo Installs Are the Most Involved

You're integrating with an existing air heater's ducting or heat exchanger rather than just adding a standalone appliance. Worth planning early in your build, not bolted on as an afterthought.
