About the Product
The Facon CW-T1218 is a 12" x 18" self-adhesive silicone heater pad for holding tanks up to 40 gallons. It bonds to the tank exterior and runs off a 12V circuit. The built-in thermostat reads the tank, not the outside air: it closes at 45°F and opens again at 68°F, so there is nothing to babysit. Worth planning for: most GoCode tanks that use this pad take two of them, so budget close to 10A on that circuit while it is calling for heat.

Installation & Wiring
Mount the pad at the lowest point on the tank, closest to the drain. The surface needs to be smooth and clean, so wipe that area with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry, peel back the adhesive paper, then press the pad down firmly and smoothly. Do not stretch it. The pad has to sit flat against the tank or wrap around it, and nothing can sit on top of it, batteries especially, because heavy pressure damages the heating element. Facon requires a minimum ambient temperature of 68°F at installation, so install before cold weather hits, not during a freeze.
Wire to a 12V circuit fused for the correct amperage and run through an on/off switch. Observe the polarity marked on the leads. Secure the leads so they do not hang below the bottom of the tank. If your tank takes two pads, wire them in parallel and size the circuit for the combined draw.
Make sure the tank has fluid in it before you power the pad. Running it against an empty tank can overheat and damage the heating element. Switch the circuit on as outside temperatures approach 45°F and the thermostat takes it from there. Switch it off once temperatures stay above freezing or the tank has been drained. Per Facon, the pad should not feel hot to the touch while it is working.

If your tank is not on this list, it takes a different pad. Most 16 to 28 gallon Sprinter and Transit tanks use a single 120V CW-T825. The Tacoma and Transit spare tire tanks use the CW-ST725.
