About the Product
The Facon CW-P618 is a 6" x 18" self-adhesive silicone heater pad sized to wrap a 1-1/2" pipe. That is the fill line, drain line, or fresh water run most likely to freeze first on a build. It bonds directly to the pipe and runs off a 12V circuit. Unlike the tank pads, this one has no thermostat. It stays off until you flip the switch, which means you control when it runs. Pair it with a manual switch, a timer, or an external thermostat depending on how you want to manage it.

Installation & Wiring
Clean the pipe with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry, peel back the adhesive paper, then press the pad on firmly and smoothly. Do not stretch it. Ambient temperature needs to be at least 68°F for the adhesive to bond, so install before cold weather hits, not during a freeze. Pipe insulation can go over the pad once it is bonded.
Wire to a 12V circuit fused for the correct amperage. Facon calls for pipe and elbow pads to be wired directly to an on/off switch, since there is no thermostat in the pad to cycle it. Observe the polarity marked on the leads. Secure the leads once the pad is in place. If you are running more than one pad, wire them in parallel and size the circuit for the combined draw.
Because nothing cycles this pad automatically, switch it on when temperatures approach freezing and off when they do not. A timer or an external thermostat handles that for you if you would rather not think about it.
